Wan Chai is one of Hong Kong’s most iconic neighbourhoods, blending modern skyscrapers with historic heritage and vibrant local life. This guide highlights some of the must‑visit places in Wan Chai — from cultural landmarks and bustling streets to restaurants and boutique hotels.
Where to go
Lee Tung Street
Once known as “Wedding Card Street” for its printing shops, it’s now a beautifully redeveloped pedestrian street. Perfect place for instagrammable photos! Also a perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine in the café and restaurants in the street.

Tai Yuen Street
Nicknamed “Toy Street”, it is a nostalgic shopping destination. There are famous local toy shops selling classic and retro toys. Street vendors also offer various merchandise and souvenirs, including handmade clothing and jewelry to fresh flowers and plants. You can also feel the lively atmosphere in this street. If you want to experience traditional local street shopping, this is the place to go.
Blue house
The Blue House is one of Wan Chai’s most iconic heritage landmarks. Painted in a striking bright blue, this tong lau (tenement building) dates back to the 1920s and has become a symbol of the district’s living history. Inside, visitors can explore exhibitions and join workshops that highlight local heritage and community life.

Near Wan Chai
Hong Kong Park, Admiralty
Hong Kong Park is a lovely garden hidden in the busy city center. Located next to the shopping mall, it is a refreshing escape from the skyscrapers. The park features various plants, waterfall, and even an aviary (Edward Youde Aviary). It is a good spot to go birding in Hong Kong. It takes just around 15 minutes-walk from Wan Chai to Admiralty.

Hong Kong Exhibition Center & Wan Chai Pier
There are conferences, meetings or exhibitions being held at the Hong Kong Exhibition Center from time to time. Next to the Exhibition Center, you can enjoy the harbourfront view of Hong Kong. From Wan Chai Pier, you can hop on the famous Star Ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui – a short ride across the Victoria Habour and it takes you to Kowloon’s famous tourist shopping district.
